Yoga Staycation with Claudia and Jojo
Join Claudia and Jojo for a weekend yoga retreat at Awei Metta Resort in the lush and peaceful oasis of Pun Hlaing Estate. This retreat will offer yoga practitioners of all levels the chance to delve deeper into various aspects of the yoga practice from mindfulness to breath mechanics to refining alignment and beyond. From Friday evening through mid-day Sunday, immerse yourself in 9+ hours of yoga practices and workshops, relax by the salt water pool or enjoy the club's recreational facilities including 18-hole golf, tennis courts, and full-service spa.

  • Welcome group dinner on Friday evening, Brunch on Saturday and Sunday

  • Seven themed yoga sessions throughout the weekend designed to help you deepen your practice, including:

    • Morning guided meditation and pranayama practice (breathwork)

    • Understanding mechanics of breath to more naturally connect breath with movement

    • Fine-tuning your own alignment based on your unique body through small-group alignment clinics​

    • Creating spaciousness in back bends through progressively sequenced vinyasa 

    • Experiencing deep relaxation with Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) 

    • Letting go of tension with myofascial release and self massage techniques using therapy balls

    • Stepping into courage with inversions and arm balances workshop

    • Building shoulder stability and mobility to find "the perfect chaturanga"

This weekend retreat is suitable for practitioners of all levels, including yogis who are new to the practice. See below for detailed description of each practice​

Awei Metta Resort is located within Pun Hlaing Estate which is west of the river, roughly a 45 minute drive from downtown Yangon. Taxi fare is between 7,000 - 10,000ks from most areas of Yangon.  

Arrive at Awei Metta on Friday anytime between 2 to 6PM. We will have our first yoga practice at 6PM

Depart from Awei Metta on Sunday at your leisure. Check out is 1PM and we will have an optional inversions workshop from 1:30 - 2:30 on Sunday. The hotel can call "kilo taxis" for guests (fare is approximately 8,000ks to downtown Yangon) and we encourage you to carpool back. 


Retreat participants are welcome to attend yoga sessions at your leisure, nothing is mandatory. 

In addition to yoga, participants have access to a large salt water swimming pool and recreational facilities of Pun Hlaing Country club including free use of tennis courts and the gym. 

Retreat participants also receive 15% off Oasis Spa, and free buggy service around the estate. 

Pun Hlaing Estate is built around an 18-course golf course and driving range.

  • SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: $85 (for private room or for couple where only one person is participating in yoga)

Yin & Yang Yoga

FRIDAY 18:00 - 19:30

Understand how breath and posture work together and how to engage the muscles to facilitate a breath practice that energizes and supports us in deepening into the asanas. Apply these breath techniques in a soulful Yin and Yang yoga practice.

Refine & Align Workshop in small groups

SATURDAY  13:00 - 14:30

The alignment clinic will offer students a chance to break down classic yoga postures and understand how to fine tune the alignment of poses to best suit your individual anatomy. In this small-group workshop format, you will gain greater perspective on how to make your yoga practice work for YOU.

Inversions Workshop

SUNDAY 13:30 - 14:30

End the weekend with a fun inversions workshop exploring headstand, forearm balance and handstand! We will analyze the challenges, build awareness and strength, and break down each pose down into its components to make them safe and approachable even for beginners.

Guided Yoga Nidra

(Yogic Sleep)

FRIDAY  21:30 - 22:00

Give yourself the gift of deep relaxation and healing. Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, is a guided meditative practice designed to guide the practitioner into deep state of physical, emotional and mental relaxation while maintaining conscious awareness.

Myofascial release +

Yoga for Better Sleep

SATURDAY  17:00 - 18:30

Gain an overview of fascia anatomy and learn simple techniques to actively release chronic stress and tension and rejuvenate fascia using therapy balls. After this self massage, move through a restorative yoga practice targeting poses and techniques to reduce stress hormones and promote better sleep.

Dynamic Vinyasa + Shoulder Stability

SATURDAY  8:00 - 9:45

Greet the morning with a meditation and pranayama practice, followed by energizing vinyasa (flow) focused on shoulder health. Learn techniques to increase shoulder mobility and to strengthen and stabilize this joint and fine tune your "chaturanga" pose.

Dynamic Vinyasa + Balanced Backbends

SUNDAY  8:00 - 9:45

After meditation and breathwork, this vinyasa practice will use intelligent sequencing to progressively prepare the body for heart opening postures. Learn to create more spaciousness in the body and work towards wheel pose with integrity and balance in the lumber spine.
