Yoga Staycation with Claudia and Jojo
Join Claudia and Jojo for our second weekend yoga retreat at Awei Metta Resort in the lush and peaceful oasis of Pun Hlaing Estate. Both healthy and indulgent, this is a chance to nourish yourself whilst deepening - or perhaps beginning - your yoga practice. We will greet the mornings with meditation and dynamic practice, and offer workshops delving into various aspects of yoga centered around bringing more balance into both your asana and mindfulness practice. Immerse yourself in 9+ hours of yoga, relax by the salt water pool or enjoy the club's recreational facilities including 18-hole golf, tennis courts, and full-service spa.

This weekend retreat is suitable for practitioners of all levels, including yogis who are newer to the practice. See below for detailed description of each practice​

GETTING TO/FROM AWEI METTA (excluded)

Awei Metta Resort is located within Pun Hlaing Estate which is west of the river, roughly a 45 minute drive from downtown Yangon. Taxi fare is between 7,000 - 10,000ks from most areas of Yangon.  

Arrive at Awei Metta on Friday anytime between 2 to 6PM. We will have our first yoga practice at 6PM

Depart from Awei Metta on Sunday at your leisure. Check out is 1PM and we will have an optional inversions workshop from 1:30 - 2:30 on Sunday. The hotel can call "kilo taxis" for guests (fare is approximately 8,000ks to downtown Yangon) and we encourage you to carpool back. 

OTHER RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

Retreat participants are welcome to attend yoga sessions at your leisure, nothing is mandatory. 

In addition to yoga, participants have access to a large salt water swimming pool and recreational facilities of Pun Hlaing Country club including free use of tennis courts and the gym. 

Retreat participants also receive 15% off Oasis Spa, and free buggy service around the estate. 

Pun Hlaing Estate is built around an 18-course golf course and driving range.

Non-Residents: Yoga & Accommodation

  • PER PERSON: $195 (assumes double occupancy - you will be paired with a roommate)

  • SINGLE SUPPLEMENT: $80 (for private room or for couple where only one person is participating in yoga)

Residents of Pun Hlaing Estate: Yoga Only

  • ENTIRE WEEKEND OF 7 CLASSES: $90

  • PLUS 2 DINNERS & 2 BREAKFASTS: $55

Balancing Strength and Ease in Yin + Yang Yoga

Learn how to cultivate greater sukha (ease, spaciousness) and sthira (strength and stability), in the physical body and in the subtle energetics of the breath and our intention. Apply these techniques in a soulful Yin and Yang yoga practice.

Refine & Align Workshop in small groups

The alignment clinic will offer students a chance to break down classic yoga postures and understand how to fine tune the alignment of poses to best suit your individual anatomy. In this small-group workshop format, you will gain greater perspective on how to make your yoga practice work for YOU.

Dynamic Vinyasa +

Twist and Release

After meditation and breathwork, this vinyasa practice will use intelligent sequencing to progressively prepare the body for twisting postures. Learn to create more strength in the side body and work towards various twists with integrity and balance in the trunk.

FRIDAY  21:30 - 22:00

Guided Yoga Nidra

(Yogic Sleep)

Give yourself the gift of deep relaxation and healing. Yoga Nidra, or Yogic Sleep, is a guided meditative practice designed to guide the practitioner into deep state of physical, emotional and mental relaxation while maintaining conscious awareness.

Myofascial Release +

Restorative Yoga

Gain an overview of fascia anatomy and learn simple techniques to actively release chronic stress and tension and rejuvenate fascia using therapy balls. After this self massage, move through a restorative yoga practice targeting poses and techniques to bring your nervous system into equilibrium.

SUNDAY 13:00 - 14:30

Arm Balancing  

Workshop

End the weekend with a fun arm balances workshop exploring crow, side crow and more! We will analyze the challenges, build awareness and strength, and break down each pose down into its components to make them safe and approachable even for beginners.

SATURDAY  8:00 - 10:00

Mandala Vinyasa + Finding your Footing

Gain a different perspective while moving circularly around the mat in this mandala vinyasa flow. We will draw awareness to our foundations and learn to root down in order to stabilize and find tune our sense of equilibrium in one-leg standing balance poses.

SATURDAY  21:00 - 22:00

Music, Mantra + Movement

Liberate the body in movement and dance surrounded by the magic of music and darkness. Starting in Savasana, you will be guided through simple prompts to explore free- form expression and movement at your own pace and rhythm, letting the music carry you into your unique equilibrium.
