The shoulder is the most complicated joint in the body and one that is rarely given that much attention, yet it is one of the most vulnerable of body parts and one of the biggest areas that causes us to complain.  In this weekend of workshops Imogen is excited to explore with students the upper body in more detail and how you can maintain neck and shoulder health.  She will help you explore techniques that will help stretch, strengthen and stabilise your way back to good shoulder mobility.

For Yoga Practitioners

Saturday November 30

2:00 - 6:00 pm

Do you carry the world on your shoulders?  Many yoga students suffer from shoulder pain or injury and often traditional medicine and traditional asana can only help relieve this pain to a point. Join Imogen for an afternoon workshop looking at a variety of common shoulder ailments and how to troubleshoot on your own at home. Imogen will give you ways to release the muscles you overuse helping you to improve your mobility.
The workshop will include:

  • a shoulder focused yoga practice

  • practical techniques to work with at home

  • a concise training manual

For teachers & movement practitioners

Sunday December 1

12:30 - 4:30 pm

Often as a yoga teacher it can be tricky to know what to suggest to students that come to you with shoulder injuries.  Join Imogen for a workshop which will look at the anatomy and biomechanics of the shoulder joint, common injuries that you might see and an exploration of how to work with issues in this area.  You will leave with a deeper understanding of the joint that you can immediately apply to your teaching and personal practice.

The workshop will include:

  • a shoulder focused yoga practice

  • a detailed look at the structure & function of the shoulder

  • common scenarios that you might see and how to help

  • a concise training manual

Imogen hails from London, England and is currently based in Yangon, Myanmar.  She trained initially under the expert eye of Katy Appleton and teaches dynamic Vinyasa flow descended from the Krishnamacharya lineage.  Imogen has enhanced her teaching becoming one of Judith Hanson Lasater's Relax and Renew® certified restorative yoga teachers and she continues to train with her teacher Tiffany Cruikshank and is Yoga Medicine® certified. In 2017 Imogen set up Safe Space Myanmar, an organisation that takes trauma-sensitive yoga to women from marginalised communities across the country partnering with different NGOs as part of their psycho-social support programmes.

Imogen's yoga teaching fuses anatomy, physiology and biomechanics with traditional yogic practices; tantra, ritual, and a deep reverence for nature. It honours the lineages of her teachers and through her teaching she hopes to inspire possibility and encourage self-awareness, awakening your authentic creativity as a yoga practitioner in the modern world. Imogen fiercely believes that yoga is for everyone, that it is a vital tradition that transcends all race and religion, fundamental in all of our lives more so now than ever before.
