FEB. 21 - FEB.24

Join Julie on an immersion into yoga and the natural wonders of northern Laos. You’ve taken her classes at YYH, you’ve heard about the retreats she runs in Laos, now join her as she takes you on a journey into asana, beyond asana, and deep into a remote village nestled in mountains, where nature welcomes you into presence and well-being.

Julie has been running yoga retreats in Laos through her own independent companies, Laos Yoga Retreats and Luang Prabang Yoga for almost five years. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to learn and to be nurtured in a place far removed from the distractions and stresses of city life. These 4 day/3 night or 6 day/5 night retreats take place in Nong Khiaw, a 3-hour minivan ride from Luang Prabang. Classes include vinyasa practice, breathing techniques (pranayama), special-focus workshops, practical application of yoga philosophy and a special evening program on the last evening. Full participation in all scheduled classes is requested. Detailed information on the program and daily schedule can be found at Laos Yoga Retreats

The Program

Your yoga program will include philosophy, meditation, pranayama, vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga and yoga nidra, giving you the benefit of a full sadhana or spiritual practice. The program will encourage you to uncover your own truth and to gain a self-awareness that will help you build a healthy connection to the world around you. Through this sense of connectedness, we find compassion for others, and through this compassion, we revive the human experience.

Nong Khiaw is a sleepy village, nestled in the highlands of Northern Laos. Located approximately 150 km from Luang Prabang, Nong Khiaw is easily accessible by road and river. Travel by road to Nong Khiaw from Luang Prabang takes approximately 3 hours, although many travelers opt for the longer, 6-hour boat ride as the views along the river are spectacular (check with travel agencies in town for availability and pricing of boat travel and this has been affected by the recent building of dams along the Nam Ou River). Life in Nong Khiaw takes place primarily along the banks of the Nam Ou River. A main street and bridge run through the center of town, connecting the two sides. From Nong Khiaw, day trips to Hmong villages, rock climbing, and visits to caves and waterfalls can be arranged, but the village is best experienced at leisure. Ultimately, Nong Khiaw's draw is its impressive landscape. The Nam Ou River is flanked on both sides by rolling hills and stone massifs. The river cuts through the mountains, opening spectacular views into the distance. It's a destination not to be missed. Arrival via Luang Prabang International Airport.
