October 23, 1pm - 4pm, at YYH Downtown
At the heart of yoga, beyond movement and breath, is a union of body, energy, mind, discernment and bliss. Traverse these five Koshas with Andrew in this transformational practice of mudra, asana, kriya and breath work, followed by an i-rest meditation to rejourney through it all.
Mudras, roughly translated as energy “seals,” are hand gestures, postures (asana) or breathing techniques (pranayama) that are used to direct energetic flows within the body. Kriyas are a specific combination of mudra, asana and pranayama. Koshas are the layers of “us” or “self,” starting with the physical and moving into the more subtle. These layers are often defined as body, energy, mind, discernment and bliss. We will work systematically through each layer, in movement and meditation, to help you gain insight into the deeper purpose of Yoga practice.
This workshop is suitable for all levels of practitioners and is particularly structured to make some of these more complex yogic tools accessible. Through the session, you will understand how, why, and when we may use these tools so that you can choose to include them into your asana practice or to use them separately as a complement to your current yoga practice.
