Join YYH founders Jojo and Jerome on this long-weekend yoga retreat to uplift your spirit and relax your body, centered around building a sustainable ongoing yoga practice. Morning sessions are designed to energize and challenge the body and mind, while evening sessions will be a mix of therapeutic practices and hands-on workshops to provide tools for you to optimize your own unique practice. Cross-training sessions including HIIT and core conditioning will also be offered to supplement the yoga practices. In between practices, there is plenty of free time to indulge in a massage, take in the stunning natural beauty of the island or unwind in a hammock with a view onto the turquoise waters.

About Boulder Bay Eco-Resort: This secluded eco-tourism resort is situated on one of the 800+ islands off the southern coast of Myanmar. Built with the mission to minimize it's human footprint, each of the 20 solar-powered bungalows has been built with dedication to sound ecological practices, and includes

includes amenities like bio-degradable shampoo and body wash. The resort has its own permaculture garden and hosts marine biologists focused on a coral restoration project to protect IUCN red-listed coral species. The resort endeavors to make Boulder Island a Marine Protected Area to restrict human activity and preserve its natural splendor. There are weekly clean-ups of the beaches to clear away plastics and garbage drifting into its bays which you are invited to participate in.

About Boulder Island: The island's diverse landscape lends itself to both relaxation and adventure. Outside of yoga & meditation sessions, spend your days kayaking through the crystal clear waters or exploring multiple snorkeling sites around the island, where reef sharks 

TRAVEL INFO

From Yangon: Fly directly to Kawthaung, Myanmar. We will send you recommended flight times from Yangon once airline timetables for the upcoming high season have been published (currently only 1 airline has published times)

From Elsewhere: Fly directly into Ranong, Thailand. Airport pickup by 8:30am

sharks and turtles are regularly spotted. For sun lovers, the island has multiple secluded white sand beaches - to reach some will require a trek through the jungle interior or a scramble over rock outcroppings. Finally, for those looking to completely unwind, curl up in the hammock on your bungalow porch or enjoy one of the the fascinating documentaries on the Moken people in the open air lounge.

SAMPLE ITINERARY 

Day 1 (Thursday, October 29)

  • 12:30: Pick up from Kawthaung or Ranong Airport, transfer to Jetty

  • 16:00: Arrive at Boulder Bay, check-in

  • 17:30 - 19:00: Opening circle and gentle yoga practice

  • 19:00: Dinner

Day 2 - 5 (Friday to Monday, October 30 - November 2)

  • 7:30: Dynamic vinyasa practice

  • 9:00: Breakfast

  • 10:30: Optional jungle hike / snorkeling / service activity

  • 13:30: Lunch 

  • 15:30: Optional small group alignment clinic

  • 17:00 - 19:00: Workshops exploring therapeutic yoga practices

  • 19:00: Dinner

  • 20:00 Optional documentary film screening, game night, closing circle

Day 5 (Tuesday, November 3)

  • 7:30: Dynamic vinyasa practice

  • 9:00: Breakfast

  • 11:00: Checkout and Closing circle

  • 11:30: Departure & lunch on boat

  • 15:00 Arrival in Kawthaung

PRICING 

Each room has 2 twin beds which can be combined as one large double bed. Prices are per person based on double occupancy. Prices stated in USD.

Superior Bungalow facing the sea: $1,350 (Single supplement surcharge: $920)

Standard Bungalow 2nd row: $1,100 (Single supplement surcharge: $720)

A $300 deposit is due upon registration to hold your spot, full payment is due 30 days before the retreat. 

EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT OF $100 FOR DEPOSITS PAID BY SEPT 20, 2020

The resort's standard rate for a 5-night stay is $1,050 (standard bungalow) and 1,300 (superior) - with the early bird discount, you actually pay LESS than the normal rate to visit the resort. THIS IS A GREAT DEAL PEOPLE :)

A NOTE ABOUT ROOMMATES

If you are coming on your own, we will pair roommates in order of registration & payments received. Since there is a 50% chance of an odd number of registrations, the earlier you registrer, the more likely you are to be paired.

ABOUT JOJO AND JEROME

Jojo and Jerome are the founders of Yangon Yoga House. In 2013, the couple left their corporate jobs in London in search of a new adventure that didn't involve a blackberry and a suit, landing in Myanmar shortly after. Both discovered yoga (separately!) in Boston at  Baron Babtiste Power Yoga studios in 2007, and hold certifications as 200-HR Vinyasa yoga instructors from Yoga Alliance approved schools. Jojo has also completed intensives and teacher trainings in yoga therapeutics, mandala vinyasa, yin yoga and tripsichore method. Jerome firmly believes in modifying the practice to suit the individual and focusing on strength training as a path to finding more ease and elasticity. They take a light-hearted approach to teaching asana with plenty of modifications variations to give you the freedom to explore the depths of your practice, where-ever that may be for you.
