FROM EARTH TO AIR: ACROVINYASA
Friday November 25, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM
with Steve Roberts
ACROVINYASA takes yoga from earth to air! This practice, which cultivates trust and community in a powerful way, consists of three elements: a vinyasa practice, inversion training and acroyoga.
Inspired by traditional yoga asanas and L-based acrobatic flying, this progressive flow includes both solo and partner practice. The aerial part revolves around one partner (the base) supporting the other (the flyer) in flying through the air in a sequenced series of postures. A ‘spotter’ completes this trio by ensuring the flyer and base stay safe and properly aligned. Roles will be alternated so you’ll have a chance to try all three if you like! The vinyasa and inversion elements, which come before the aerial experience, strengthen and open the body, mind and heart for basing, flying and spotting.
Who can join?
All levels are welcome, even beginners! It may seem like quite a jump from your usual practice, but moving your yoga from earth to air (and the courage you need to draw on in the process) is what makes it fun and wonderfully transformative.
Come and join this great opportunity to move beyond your solo practice by supporting, flying and laughing!
Fees: $25 if registered in advance, $30 at the door
